- How long has TestMasters been preparing students
to take the LSAT?
TestMasters has been preparing students to take the
LSAT for the past sixteen years, and the number of students enrolling in the TestMasters
LSAT Course has increased every year since the company's inception. In
1991 TestMasters began holding LSAT classes in Southern California. Fueled
by positive word of mouth and a reputation for excellence, the organization
quickly expanded to include the entire state. In 2000 TestMasters began
offering its LSAT program nationwide, and in 2004 the company held LSAT
classes in 49 states and several foreign countries. In the past three years over 30,000 students have enrolled in our LSAT
courses.
- What is the tuition for the TestMasters LSAT
Course?
The course tuition is $1450. This covers all of the course materials, including the fifteen coursebooks, the four proctored diagnostic tests, and the supplemental online materials. The course tuition also includes full access to the Online Resource Center.
Students are welcome to write in the coursebooks and may keep all of the materials to study once the course is over.
The tuition for the weekend course is $350.
- How do I register for the TestMasters LSAT Course?
To reserve a spot in one of our LSAT courses, you
must either pay the tuition in full or make a down payment of at least
$100. You can
register online for
any of our LSAT courses. If you choose to make a down payment, you must
pay the remainder of the tuition at least one week prior to the first
class meeting. TestMasters accepts the following forms of payment: checks,
money orders, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover. Please note that
TestMasters only accepts personal checks that are received at least ten
business days prior to the first class meeting. If you complete your enrollment less than
one week before the first class meeting, you will be charged a
$50 late registration fee.
- What is the TestMasters refund policy?
If you wish to cancel your enrollment for one of our
LSAT courses, you must submit a written cancellation request to TestMasters.
Your tuition payment is refundable if and only if you notify TestMasters
in writing of your intent to withdraw at least ten business days prior
to the start date of your specified course. Tuition refunds are processed
and either credited or mailed within ten business days.
- What materials do I receive when I enroll in
the course?
The materials for the TestMasters LSAT Course include fifteen coursebooks,
each of which contains a lesson section that the instructor covers in class and a homework section that is based
upon the concepts taught in the lesson. Students also take four full-length, proctored diagnostic tests and
have access to a wealth of online materials, including seven supplemental full-length diagnostic tests.
The coursebooks, diagnostic tests, and supplemental online materials incorporate all of the real LSAT questions
that the Law School Admission Council has released since June of 1991.
- How do I receive my course materials?
If you pay the tuition in full and if TestMasters
receives your signed student enrollment agreement at least one week prior
to the first class meeting, your course materials will be shipped free
of charge approximately one week before the start of the course. Otherwise,
you will be charged a $50 late registration fee. Please note that a signature is required for delivery of the
shipment.
In lieu of shipment, TM reserves the right to distribute materials at each lesson.
- Will I have the opportunity to ask my TestMasters
instructor questions?
Of course. TestMasters instructors arrive thirty minutes
before the start of each of the fifteen lessons to answer questions from
the previous lesson's homework. Students are also given opportunities
to ask questions during the four-hour lesson. If you have a large number
of questions and your instructor is unable to answer all of them in class,
you can get further assistance from TestMasters instructors by calling
the Student Helpline. The Helpline is available weekdays from 1PM to
4PM Eastern Time and from 10AM to 1PM Pacific Time.
- How do I access the TestMasters Student Helpline?
At the first class meeting we will provide you with
a special toll-free number that you can use to access the Student Helpline.
Our instructors are available to answer academic questions on weekdays from
1PM to 4PM Eastern Time and from 10AM to 1PM Pacific Time. The Student
Helpline is only available to students enrolled in our full-length course.
- How do I access the TestMasters Online Resource
Center?
When you enroll in the course, we will send you a
confirmation letter that includes your unique user ID number. Once you
have received this number, you can visit the
members
area on our website and register as an online user. Registering will
enable you to create your own password. Once you have registered, you
can access the Online Resource Center by entering your ID number and
password in the member login area, which is located in the upper right-hand
corner of the home page.
- Should I prepare on my own before taking the
TestMasters course?
No. TestMasters LSAT students should not study any
LSAT material until the course begins. We teach proven strategies and
techniques that help students significantly improve their test performance
in terms of both accuracy and speed. Students who work through LSAT questions
without first having learned these strategies and techniques are not
likely to achieve optimal results.
- After I take a proctored diagnostic test, how
do I obtain my results?
You can view your diagnostic results by logging into
the members area of our website starting at 9AM on the day after the diagnostic is given. On some occasions your results
may be available before this time. The results are in the form of a detailed
score report that includes the answer key, the scoring scale, the answers
you chose, and other pertinent information. After viewing your results,
you should print a copy of your score report and bring it with you to
the diagnostic review.
- What are the diagnostic reviews?
At the diagnostic reviews, TestMasters instructors
help students understand and learn from mistakes they make on practice
tests. The reviews enable students to ascertain whether they know the
techniques for each question type and whether they are applying the techniques
correctly. While the experience of taking a proctored diagnostic is certainly
helpful, the real value of a diagnostic exam lies in your ability to
review the approach you used for answering each question and to analyze
what worked and what didn't, so that you can improve your performance
the next time. Hence, the diagnostic reviews are vital for students who
are determined to maximize their LSAT scores.
- Why isn't there a review for the first diagnostic
test?
The purpose of the first diagnostic test is to provide
you with a baseline LSAT score from which to measure your progress and
to inform you and your instructor of your initial strengths and weaknesses.
Since you are taking the test "cold," that is, without any preparation,
attending a four-hour diagnostic review class afterwards is of little
value. Students who have not yet been exposed to our course methodology
lack both the tools and the LSAT vocabulary to understand the detailed
analysis that occurs in a diagnostic review.
- What are the LSAT Jam sessions?
At the two LSAT Jam sessions, which are scheduled
in close proximity to the date of the actual LSAT, students are challenged
with Logical Reasoning and Logic Games questions that reflect the most
commonly tested concepts on the exam. The questions range from a medium
level to a very high level of difficulty. Thus, when students answer
a question correctly, they can be confident that they truly understand
the techniques that apply to that type of question. When students answer
a question incorrectly, they know they must review the techniques that
pertain to that particular question type before taking the real exam.
The Jam sessions ensure that our students are in the competitive frame
of mind that is necessary for success on the LSAT.
- Should I preview the coursebook before attending
each lesson?
Definitely not. Previewing the coursebook or attempting
to do LSAT problems in the coursebook before attending the corresponding
lesson is counterproductive for a number of reasons. In each lesson your
instructor will introduce and discuss at length important concepts, strategies,
and techniques that you must learn to apply to the LSAT problems in the
coursebook. Students who attempt to do LSAT problems without the benefit
of this information often develop bad habits and must spend precious
time and energy breaking these habits before they are able to apply the
proper techniques. In addition, our method of teaching involves challenging
students with new material in class. This critical element of the course
is lost if you have already worked through the material on your own.
- What should I bring with me to class?
Always make sure that you have something to write
with. In addition, you must bring the appropriate coursebook to each
of the fifteen lessons. It is important not to forget your coursebook
because TestMasters instructors usually bring only one or two extra coursebooks
for students to borrow. If you are attending the 30-minute question and
answer session before class, you should also bring the coursebook from
the previous lesson. At the proctored diagnostic tests and the LSAT Jam
sessions we will provide you with all of the materials you need. You
should bring your most recent diagnostic test and the corresponding score
report to each of the diagnostic reviews.
- Can I transfer to another location in the middle
of the course?
Yes. If you would like to attend a single class at
an alternate location, you may log into the members area of our website
and print out an audit pass, which you must present to the instructor
when you arrive at the class site. If you would like to switch locations
permanently, you may do so at no additional charge, as long as the class
at the original location and the class at the new location are in preparation
for the same LSAT date and there is space available at the new location.
If you decide that you would like to transfer from one class to another,
please contact us immediately so that we can reserve a space for you
at the new location.
- What is the TestMasters repeat policy?
Students enrolled in the TestMasters LSAT Course may
repeat the entire course at any time within three years of the original
date of registration for the reduced fee of $725. Students enrolled in
the TestMasters Weekend LSAT Course may repeat the weekend course at
any time within three years of the original date of registration for
the reduced fee of $185. Weekend course students cannot enroll in the
full-length course for the reduced repeater fee. Similarly, full-length
course students cannot enroll in the weekend course for the reduced repeater
fee.
